Egypt is not ignoring Palestine's plight because it is a peacekeeping nation. (I'm an Egyptian, btw, so I'm not attacking the nation's morality based on things I have not seen.) Egypt is doing absolutely nothing to defend Palestine because Hosni Mubarak has a figurative knife to his back held by Israel and the USA. Mubarak is, to put it lightly, a coward.
What can be done is obvious, but not easy. Although I am not a fan of Nasser's rule in Egypt and the destruction he brought about, I think he was on to something when he advocated "Arabism or Arab unity." The Arab world can't keep crying over Gaza and bickering amongst its constituents. If we cry together, then we fight together. Otherwise, why are we getting all upset? Egypt and Palestine are seperated by a fortified border; made strong by America and Israel. This border is not just physical, it is represented in our media as well. If a picture of Mohamed alDurra moves an Egyptian man to tears because he knows the boy's death was unjustified, then he has an OBLIGATION to take up arms against that child's killer; simply put.
