On the last day of the three day workshop with ex-prisoners from Bab el Tebbaneh the audio and video facilitators took the students out to produce short films based on story scenes developed the day before. Below are several images from the shoot.

To get the students acquainted with the camera the audio / visual facilitators offered basic camera and audio techniques. After the students were then asked to come up with a story idea where each participant would play a role either as an actor or as the cinematographer. This exercise was created so as to give hands on training of how to frame, pan and tilt during an actual shoot. Below are three of the students final pieces. While most of Lebanon has been at peace since the May 2008 powersharing agreement, the northern city of Tripoli has been the scene of intense street fighting between Bab al Tabaneh, a Sunni neigborhood, and Jabal Mohsen, which is populated by Alawites, who are a branch of Shia Islam. The fighting has so far claimed 90 lives, and it is further complicating the lives of young people in neighborhoods already tainted by poverty, crime and drug abuse.
